Blooming Bungei is a Japanese alternative rock project that transforms a distinctly Japanese aesthetic sensibility into its own

vision of J-Alternative Rock. Built around the dynamics of a rock band, its work moves freely through electronic music,

classical elements, and psychedelia, while extending beyond sound into film, scent, taste, and physical space.

Operating independently through bungei Inc., a company led by members of the project rather than an outside label,

Blooming Bungei has built a combined monthly listener base of more than 400,000 across streaming services including Spotify

and Apple Music.

Blooming Bungei will release its debut full-length album, “Poolside Core,” on October 28, 2026.

The album includes “school zone(MOD),” which reconstructs the sense of time from childhood through a 2010s-style

home-recording sound; “mantle of the earth(MOD),” where electric guitar intersects with strings, featuring violin by Urara

(ChoQMay); “poolside villa,” co-written with TEMPLIME and connecting band sound with electronic music; and “Blooming,” a

ten-minute epic that travels through all four seasons. Together, the songs present a new vision of alternative music.

“Poolside Core” condenses Blooming Bungei’s progressive, alternative approach—along with its philosophy, aesthetic

sensibility, and way of seeing the world—into a single record. For the project, it is a landmark work. Or rather, something

closer to Mount Fuji.

On October 29 at 7:00 PM JST, the day after the album release, the Music Film for album track “FLASHNOVA” will premiere on

Blooming Bungei’s official YouTube Channel.

Directed and shot by Blooming Bungei member and color artist Aika Sumi, the film was completed over approximately

eighteen months. From calligraphic art performed on a snowfield in the depths of winter to a custom-built rocket launcher

created to make cherry blossoms bloom, scenes unfold one after another across the boundary between reality and fantasy.

Expanding the world of Blooming Bungei through both music and moving image, the film is an epic in which not a single

moment should be missed.

〈ARTIST COMMENTS〉

Color Artist Aika Sumi

A Music Film six years in conception, centered on a letter addressed to someone it can no longer reach.

I used to think that what is always out of reach was the future as seen from the past. But perhaps what is truly

unreachable is the past as seen from the future.

I edited the film as though opening a time capsule and looking, one by one, at the things my former self entrusted

to my future self.

Seasons, the Earth, impulse, desire, transformation, and love.

“Poolside Core” seals Blooming Bungei’s inner landscape into a single album.

So that even after loss, even after breaking apart, we can still believe that now is the most beautiful.
